Heavenly BreakThrough - 2 Samuel 5:19-21

"Then David inquired of the Lord: 'Should I go to war against the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?' The Lord replied to David, 'Go, for I will certainly hand the Philistines over to you.' So David went to Baal-perazim and defeated them there and said, 'Like a bursting flood, the Lord has burst out against my enemies before me.' Therefore, he named that place the Lord Bursts Out. The Philistines abandoned their idols there, and David and his men carried them off."

In a previous post entitled, God's Outbursts from I Chronicles 14 and 15, I wrote about this interesting phenomenon described as an outburst by God. First, God "burst out" against the Philistines (or empowered King David to burst out against them) and then God burst out against His own people when the Ark of the Covenant was improperly handled as it was transported to a new destination.

We see these same stories of God's outbursts recounted in the life of King David in 2 Samuel 5 and 6.

The Hebrew verb, pāraṣ, means to break out (literally and figuratively), to breach, to break away, down, forth, in, or up, to burst out, compel, disperse, grow, increase, open, press, scatter, and urge. In the HCSB its English translation includes break down, urged, spread out, break out, burst out, and increased.

In each case, when God had an outburst, then a heavenly breakthrough occurred.

When the Lord burst out against the Philistines the mortal enemies of Israel, they had to abandon their idols and King David's army destroyed them by burning them in fire (see 1 Chronicles 14:12).

When God burst out against Uzzah (and killed him) when he reached out to prevent the Ark of the Covenant from toppling off a wagon on which it was being transported, David realized he had presumptuously attempted to move the ark rather than following the proper procedure that permitted only consecrated priests and Levites to transport the Ark (see 1 Chronicles 15;13).

So there is always a heavenly breakthrough coming, when God breaks into the events of your life.

Maybe God bursts out in your life to give you deliverance from the enemy of your soul or maybe He bursts out against your own secret sin.

Whatever the reason, when God bursts out in your life then there's a spiritual breakthrough to be obtained that will increase your faith and empower you for greater service to Him.
